In 2026, your personal brand image isn't optional.
In this episode, I'm unpacking why your image has become one of your most powerful marketing assets — and why it's no longer enough to simply be good at what you do. I'll also share the conversation that inspired this episode: a woman preparing to share the stage with the CEO of Google who asked me whether luxury brands would dress her for free. My answer surprised her—and it reveals one of the biggest misconceptions people have about personal brand and influence.
This episode is for you if...
You're building a business, growing your career or stepping into bigger opportunities and want to be taken seriously. If you've ever wondered whether your image really matters — or whether it's worth investing in your personal brand — this episode will change the way you think about how opportunities are created.

So today's episode is something I've been wanting to talk about for a while. And I've got a list of so many topics that I want to cover on this podcast. It's a very, very long list. And this one is inspired by a conversation I had a year ago with a woman who was about to speak on a stage in Geneva. And she reached out for styling help. At the time that we spoke, she was the head of marketing at an AI company. And she was about to share a stage with the CEO of Google. And she asked me whether brands would just dress her for free. And this is something I get asked all the time by people who aren't aware of how clothes and marketing work when it comes to brands dressing you for free. So today I want to cover all that. Anyway, I was a bit taken back with the ask because it told me everything about where she was at with her personal brand. And I'm going to come back to that story in a moment because the answer might surprise you. But first, I want to be very clear about who this episode is for. Because when people hear personal brand, they immediately think, oh, that's for people who run their own businesses. That's for coaches, that's for consultants and entrepreneurs. That's not for me. And I want to challenge you on that. Because whether you're an entrepreneur, a coach, a consultant, the face of your own business, or whether you're a lawyer, a real estate agent, a sales professional, a career-driven professional, if you are client-facing, if you are in a room where decisions are being made about you, if you want to be seen, remembered, and chosen, you need a personal brand. Full stop. It's 2026. You need a personal brand. You don't have to own a business to have a personal brand or personal style. You just have to be a human being who wants to be taken seriously in the world. So today I'm speaking to both sides: the entrepreneur building something from the ground up, and the corporate professional who's going places and wants the right people to see them. This episode is for both of you. I have three points I want to cover in this episode. So, point one being brands don't care who you work for, they care about how many people you can influence. So let me come back to that woman in Geneva. She was the head of marketing at the time at a well-known AI company. She's about to speak alongside the CEO of Google, on paper, incredibly impressive, amazing. And she wanted brands to dress her for free because of that association. Here's what I had to tell her in the nicest possible way, of course. Brands don't give a damn who you work for. They don't care how prestigious the stage is or how impressive the company name is on your email signature or who you're sending next to when the photos get taken. They don't care about any of that. What they care about, the only thing they care about is how many people you can influence. When a brand lends you clothes, they're not doing it as a favor. They're doing it as a marketing investment. They want you to wear that piece, show it to your audience, and convert your audience into buyers. That is the exchange. So if you don't have an audience, if you don't have a following of people who trust you, who engage with what you do, who will go and buy what you're wearing because you're wearing it, then you have nothing to offer in return. It does not matter if you're standing next to the CEO of Google. And this is not just about brand partnerships. The same principle applies whether you're in business or in corporate. If you're an entrepreneur trying to attract clients, brands, or people to collaborate with or speaking opportunities, your personal brand image is what gets you in the room. It communicates the level you're operating at before you've said a word. If you're in corporate, your personal brand image is what gets you noticed by the people above you. It's what makes your boss look at you and think, oh yep, she is ready for that next level. She looks like a leader. She looks like someone people can follow. She looks like someone I want representing this company. In both cases, your image is your currency. And if you haven't taken it seriously yet, my friend, you are leaving opportunities on the table every single day. Point two of why your personal brand image matters more than ever in 2026. If you want to play on a bigger stage, you need to look like you belong there. Now, this is something I'm deeply passionate about, and it comes from the work I do every single day. As you know, the majority of my one-on-one VIP clients are leaders who speak on some incredibly big stages. I mean, it's friggin' amazing. So I'm speaking from experience as a personal brand stylist. I've been doing this work for a while. When you're still building your personal brand, whether that's in business or in your career, perception is everything because people are making decisions about you based on what they see before they've read your buyer, before they know your experience. Now, let me give you an example. I'm currently in the creative direction process for a photo shoot for one of my VIP clients. And when I do creative direction, I'm not just peaking nice outfits. I'm thinking about her business goals, how she wants to position herself in the market, the location, the lighting, the angle, the aesthetic. Every single detail is a deliberate decision designed to communicate exactly who she is, the market she's playing in, the type of clients she wants to work with, and where she's going. Because if you're positioning yourself as an international coach or speaker or consultant, you need to look like it. You need to look like someone who could walk onto a stage or a room in New York, London, or Dubai and completely own it. Even if you're currently based in a small coastal town, no one needs to know that. When your aesthetic is elevated and your image is intentional, that's what people see. And the same applies in corporate. If you want to role as head of department or the board position, the leadership title, you need to look like you're already operating at that level. Not like you're working towards it. You need to look like you're already there. Think about the podcast hosts, the event organizers, the leaders who are deciding who gets invited into their world, into their little circle. They're aligning themselves with people who reflect their standards. They're telling their audience, this is the person I trust. I believe in this person. This person is aligned with what I stand for. In order for them to see that alignment, your brand and their brand need to sit side by side, visually, aesthetically, at the same level. Are you comparing yourself to people like Mark Zuckerberg or Gary Vee, who can get away with jeans and a t-shirt and using that as a reason not to invest in your image and your style? Because here's the reality. They can do that because they've already built the trust. They already have the platform, the track record, the audience that knows exactly who they are. When you're still in building phase, when you're still in the phase of earning trust and establishing your place, you can't afford to take that shortcut. You need to control perception. You need to make sure that every time someone encounters you, they immediately understand your level. So ask yourself, does your image right now, your photos on your website or on LinkedIn, your wardrobe, the way you show up in any room, look like where you're going, or does it look like where you've been? Point three, in a noisy world, looking polished is your greatest competitive advantage. And I don't know why people aren't doing this seriously, because there's so many people out there telling you to just be authentic. There's so much noise out there in the online space telling you to just be authentic, and people are taking that literally. Being authentic does not mean looking like you're just casual with your t-shirt and you're unpolished. A lot of people do this when they leave the corporate world and they come into entrepreneurship. They suddenly think, oh yeah, I don't have to wear workwear anymore. I could just be casual, I could just show up in a t-shirt and jeans and all will be okay. I don't have to do my hair. I don't have to, no, none of that. That does not mean being authentic. Okay. People who are telling you to be real, to be relatable, to be raw and unfiltered, don't listen to any of that. And I understand the intention behind that because you know, authenticity matters and being genuine matters. But here's what I've seen play out over nearly two decades of doing this work. Money is attracted to shiny objects. When you look polished, elevated, and confident, when your image communicates that you're operating at a certain level, you attract the people who want to pay for that level. You attract the clients who are ready to invest in a high-ticket offer, the brands who want to align with someone who looks the part, the opportunities that are reserved for people who already look like they're there. And let me tell you exactly why. Because this goes so much deeper than just looking nice. When you dress in a way that aligns with your personal brand and your personal style, when those two align, you feel it. You carry yourself differently, you walk into rooms differently. And your clients and your colleagues and the people who are making decisions, they naturally draw towards you because you exude confidence and it gives them reassurance that they're dealing with someone who knows what they're talking about. Again, like I said before, we buy based on what we see, always. When someone encounters you and your image resonates with their values and aspirations, it creates an emotional connection. That emotional connection influences whether they buy from you, hire you, or go somewhere else before you've even said a single word. And then there's the energy piece. When you feel good in what you're wearing, you operate from a completely different level. And people feel that. It's magnetic. It draws the right people towards you and the opportunities that are aligned with where you're going. And professionally, your image establishes trust. And again, it tells people you take your work seriously. And that matters when you're trying to land a client, get promoted, or just be taken seriously in a room full of people who don't know you yet. But the thing I keep coming back to, and this is one that really drives me, is memorability. In a competitive marketplace, being remembered is everything. When you present yourself in a way that's unique and authentic to you, you stand out. People remember you. And people do business with people they remember. And here's the bottom line: when you're on show and in 2026 you're always on show, you are the product. You are the walking billboard of your brand. And that's what I always say. What you wear is your business card. And your image is your biggest marketing tool. So if your image isn't intentional right now, if it's not doing anything for you, if it's not actively working for you, it's working against you quietly every single day. So let's bring this home. In 2026, your personal brand image matters. Whether you're an entrepreneur or a corporate professional, whether you're chasing clients or chasing promotions, whether you want brands to dress you, stages to book you, or the people above you to choose you, your image is the first thing people see. And it either opens doors or it closes them. So here's your challenge after this episode. Do a self-assessment. Look at your photos, your wardrobe, the way you show up online and in person. Is your image aligned with your vision for success? Are you consciously controlling how people perceive you? Or are you living that story to chance? Because you have the power to shape that story, my friend, starting today. And if you want help with that, make sure you download the freebie that is in the links below.
